An internship is usually unpaid. Internships conducted as part of the CJS Professional Practice Program consist of 480 hours of work experience performed at a single criminal justice-related agency during a single semester or session.
In today’s competitive job market, employers often demand that applicants possess a demonstrated interest in the field, not only through the completion of college coursework, but also through participation in practical and/or volunteer work experiences.
The Criminal Justice Sciences Professional Practice Program is an integral part of the overall curriculum and is specifically designed to better prepare students to enter the field of Criminal Justice upon graduation.
The purpose of the program is to provide students with both an educational experience and a work experience through the performance of an internship. The program provides students with three important benefits.
