Department of Criminal Justice and Sciences at Illinois State University

Recent Honors Projects

Recent graduate Tracy Deyell worked with Drs. Walsh and Krienert on an honors project examining the differences in victim, offender, and incident characteristics in a large sample of parricide cases.  The study is a unique contribution in that it is one of the first to examine the phenomenon comparing adolescent and juvenile offenders to adult offenders using nationally reported incidents. The project is currently being prepared for submission for publication.

Eric Mascari coded hundreds of inmate descriptions of violent events. He is currently working with Dr. Krienert on a paper for publication using the coded data.

Jeremy Braithwaite collected data to study binge drinking and sexual coercion in a sample of college students, using two different survey techniques. He presented his findings at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.

University Honors Program

The Honors Program at Illinois State University challenges and stimulates academically-talented and highly-motivated students, offering them the personal attention and collegiate atmosphere often found only at small, liberal arts colleges.

The Honors Program enriches students' academic and social experiences by providing a variety of formal and informal learning experiences as well as nurturing an environment that encourages interaction with peers and faculty members both in and out of the classroom.
