ur challenging curriculum examines the structure, functions, and decision-making processes of police, courts, and correctional agencies involved in the control and management of criminal offenders.

The discipline examines the causes and patterns of criminal behavior and the role of law in regulating both crime and the operation of the criminal justice system. This interdisciplinary program incorporates concepts and theories from psychology, sociology, public administration, management, social work, economics, history, anthropology, demography, philosophy, and geography.

Courses are taught by highly qualified faculty from diverse disciplines.

The interdiscplinary training of the faculty benefits students and also leads to research that reflects the diverse nature of the field. All tenure-line faculty hold doctoral degrees from major universities covering different academic disciplines, such sociology, history, American studies, and criminal justice.

Highly qualified students who wish to pursue an individualized program of study may participate in the honors program. The required internship, student organizations and study abroad opportunities offer exceptional out of the classroom experiences.
