Profile:

Associate Professor Jeffrey A. Walsh earned a B.S. in Psychology from Western Illinois University a M.S. in Criminology from California State University, an enroute M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice followed by a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from The City University of New York in 2005.  Dr. Walsh has taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, Temple University in Philadelphia, and has been a faculty member at Illinois State University since fall 2004.  He teaches courses in research methods, victimology, juvenile justice, and courses in criminological theory in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.  Dr. Walsh's research interests are eclectic though tend to focus broadly in the areas of violent predatory crime and victimization, family violence, and community social structure and crime.  Dr. Walsh's recent publications have appeared in the Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Family Violence, Journal of Aggression Maltreatment and Trauma, Journal of Faculty Development.  Dr. Walsh is Co-faculty advisor for Alpha Phi Sigma, the ISU chapter of the National Criminal Justice Honors Society. He is an active member in several professional organizations including: American Society of Criminology, Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, Midwestern Criminal Justice Association, and the Homicide Research Working Group.
