Coursework

Coursework in the program is designed to increase individual competency, develop analytical thought processes, and promote the development of professional skills. Coursework focuses on examination of contemporary issues in the administration of justice, theories, research, statistical reasoning, and management problems in the field of criminal justice. First year, full-time gradaute assistants are required to take a minimum of 9 credit hours and a maximum of not more than 12 credit hours.

The curriculum is flexible, permitting students to pursue coursework reflective of their individual needs and goals. This flexibility has been accomplished by providing a core of required courses coupled with courses that can be elected from offerings in this department and other university departments.

Through consultation with the criminal justice graduate student advisor, the selection of electives offers students the flexibility necessary for tailoring individual programs to meet personal and professional goals.
