Department of Criminal Justice and Sciences at Illinois State University

Alumni Spotlight: Jessica S. Kolk

Career: Community Corrections Officer, State of Washington's Department of Corrections--Southeast Seattle Team

What's the story?

I have an assigned caseload (average 30-40) of adult felony criminal offenders that I supervise in the community. I meet with the individuals once to twice a month in my office and also conduct home visits at their residences to make sure they are in compliance with their conditions of supervision.

In my position you can also work specialized events when volunteers are needed (such as the Bite of Seattle--similar to the Taste of Chicago) and assist local law enforcement with offenders under supervision that may be causing problems or should not be at attendance at these events.
